Aqua Aerobics Class

Adults looking to challenge themselves without stress on their joints can take advantage of the YMCA’s popular Aqua Aerobics class, taught by Certified Aqua Aerobics Instructors. Get a great non-impact aerobic workout in the comfort of a heated, indoor pool.  Incorporate aqua moves and train your body in a new and fun way.  Not only does Aqua Aerobics strengthen your muscles and tone your body, but it also provides an excellent cardiovascular workout with minimum risk factor. Water fitness is ideal for everyone including seniors, pregnant women, individuals with arthritis, those recovering from an injury, new exercisers, as well as athletes in training.

So splash into the YMCA pool and (don't) sweat it out!  We encourage any level participant to give aqua fitness a try. The class does not require early sign-up and members of the YMCA do not have to pay to take the class. Non-Y members may pay the $7 daily fee to take the class and spend the rest of day at the YMCA utilizing all of the facilities.

Arthritis Class

The Great Plains Family YMCA’s Arthritis class is a must for those who suffer from arthritis and want a way to improve those joints!  Join the certified instructor and other group members in the Carl Dunn Aquatic Center where you will stretch and tone in a non-impact workout.

The class is focused on water exercise that helps relieve pain and stiffness caused by arthritis_class.jpgarthritis. According to the Arthritis Foundation, there are several reasons why water exercise is ideal for arthritis sufferers. The soothing warmth and buoyancy of warm water make it a safe ideal environment for relieving arthritis pain and stiffness. Immersing in warm water raises your body temperature, causing your blood vessels to dilate and increasing circulation. Water exercise is a gentle way to exercise joints and muscles. Water supports joints to encourage free movement, and may also act as resistance to help build muscle strength.

The class does not require early sign-up and members of the YMCA do not have to pay to take the class. Non-Y members may pay the $7 daily fee to take the class and spend the rest of day at the YMCA utilizing all of the facilities.
