After a long day of school, kids need to let loose and have some fun. Parents want to know their kids are doing this in a safe and positive environment. The Great Plains Family YMCA School Age Program is licensed through Oklahoma Department of Human Services and is a two star facility.
The School Age Program is open to students who are in Kindergarten and five years of age thru 12 years of age. Teen Aids are also utilized and are between the ages of 13-15 years. Transportation is provided after school from respective elementary schools in Weatherford to the YMCA. An afternoon snack is provided and activities include devotions, organized games, art activities, inflatable bounce house, sports/fitness days, indoor swimming, and homework assistance. All activities are under the supervision of teachers who are caring, positive role models. Teachers undergo 30 hours of initial training which include certification in Adult, Child, and Infant CPR/First Aid, Entry Level Child Care Training and OKDHS orientation.
Teachers are available from after school pickup until 6:00pm, Monday through Friday. Our program follows the Weatherford Public School schedule, allowing for No School Fun Days from 6:30am until 6:00pm on days that children are out of school. The School Age Program is closed on all major holidays.
Enrollment information may be picked up at the Great Plains Family YMCA. As with all YMCA programs, financial assistance is available based on need. This assistance is limited. Forms are available at the YMCA front desk.
