Triathlon

The Great Plains Family YMCA annually hosts the Weatherford Triathlon at Means/Clark Park located on Huber and Indiana streets in Weatherford. The event takes place on a Saturday morning, usually in June. This is for solo and team events. This is a continuous and strenuous swim, bike and run endurance race. The swim (450 yd) is a snake swim in a 50-yard outdoor pool staggered at 15-second intervals. The bike course (11 miles) is an out-and-back route on paved county roads.  The run (5K) is a loop through residential and Southwestern Oklahoma State University areas.  Both the run and bike courses have moderate, but challenging hills.

After the race, a lunch is provided for all the athletes and volunteers. Then awards are given for first, second and third place awards in each division.  Awards are also presented to the overall male and female winners. Shirts will be given to every entrant. For each participant’s safety, aid stations will be located at the transition area and at several spots on the bike and run courses. Traffic control will be in place at all intersections of the bike and run routes. YMCA staff and volunteers are available throughout the event.

Y Members Appreciation Day

In appreciation to our members, the Y hosts an annual lunch for all of the Great Plains Family YMCA members.  There is no cost for this event.
