The YMCA believes we all need a place to belong - a place where we genuinely care about one another, share in decisions, treat each other with respect and pull together for a common cause. Ys bring together people from different walks of life in an environment where all can feel comfortable. They are natural incubators for ideas to help solve community problems. They get things done by working with other neighborhood groups and organizations.
The Great Plains Family YMCA in Weatherford, Oklahoma, collaborates with schools, governmental agencies, other community service organizations, churches and neighborhood groups to bring programs and activities as close as possible to those who wish to participate.
The YMCA's strength is in the people it brings together. The YMCAs commitment to meeting community needs is continually demonstrated in programs ranging from child care, after-school enrichment, youth leadership and development, youth and adult sports, fitness, and family activities. Additionally, the Y has provided numerous outreach programs for the Great Plains community.
